These appear to be well made. The material is not as heavy weight as other blackout curtains I own. Tie backs are simple with Velcro closures. Overall, pretty happy with them especially since they’re reasonably priced when on sale. However, I have not been able to get the creases out of them. Figured I’d need to iron them when I made the purchase so to the ironing board I went, and was able to remove some small wrinkles but made no effect on the large creases caused by folding and packaging. Next to the washing machine, add some wrinkle guard fabric softener for good measure, and then dry each panel separately on perm./pres. setting. Back to the ironing board and still creases! Hanging them in the guest room, which is vacant due to the pandemic, and using the tie backs, which help hide the creases in the gathers, and hoping that gravity will be able to do what I couldn’t. My suggestion is to plan on having these professionally pressed if you purchases them.
I am sometimes surprised about reviews on amazon. I saw some bad reviews about these curtains and wonder if they review a different product than the one I received. For $38 bucks and the quality of these curtains, you can't go wrong 100% blackout, and you receive 8 panels. Not 4 but 8 panels. I highly recommend them to anyone.
I used to spend hundreds of dollars buying new blackout curtains from a big brand store. Each year the curtains slowly degraded (disintegrated from the sun and got holes and white powdery). Even if these Amazon Basics curtains do the exact same thing, I will at least only spend a fraction of the cost replacing them every year. These are about 25% of the cost of the ones I was buying before. Thank you, Amazon Basics!
NOT 100% blackout. Upstairs apartment with a crummy wall ac and the sun hitting our sliding glass door in the summer makes us fry like marshmallows. Bought these to keep it cooler in the room. You get EIGHT curtains for a good price (I paid $27). The only drawback is I really needed 52x96 so these are a bit short but since they were such a good deal we deal with it. Would buy again. I don’t plan on washing in a machine based on reviews so I plan to spot clean by hand.
These look cheap. In the description it says “made of innovative triple-weave fabric; no stiff liner” which is why I purchased them. Fact is there is a *white* stiff liner. As such they don’t drape well and they can’t be machine washed. It’s literally false advertising. The material of the black curtains looks plasticy, almost like they are water resistant shower curtains. They do darken the room but still disappointing. I have yet to be impressed by any of the items I have purchased from the amazon basic line and I won’t be purchasing any more.
This works great in my family room. The light blocking is excellent for in the evenings when we get full sun from the west windows and you really can tell an instant difference in air temperature when they are closed. I live in South Florida for reference and it makes a huge difference, I think they are better than the Eclipse brand we have in the kids bedrooms. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that they are as durable and easy to clean with the price. I would purchase again and recommend for anyone needing light blocking or needing to keep your room cooler.
We used these in our passive solar house. In the fall when the sun starts to come back into the house and you don't need its heating effects, these blinds help a great deal in reflecting the heat. They do need weighing down at the bottom, as the rising hot air at the window tends to suck the curtain toward the window when you need an air space between the window and the curtain. One of the four curtains we purchased had fault, you could see light coming through in places, but Amazon replaced that quickly. Light does come through the stitch holes along seams and hems, so if absolute darkness is what you need you may need a different drap.
This set includes 8 curtains - 2 curtains per windows set. I have 2 sets of windows and used 4 curtains. No complaints at all with the beige set I bought. The do a good job of blocking the light. Any light that comes through is from the edges, rather than through the material. They are pretty barebones in terms of design, but no surprise, as it is exactly as pictured. No fancy ornamental stitching, etc, but good quality. Excellent value.
These are HEAVY and dense material. They work great as far as blocking light and heat, I use them in a room with both south and west exposures which gets too warm in late afternoon. However, as I do like to open them in the early part of the day, they are so heavy they are a tad cumbersome to open/close and that is annoying.
They aren't cotton of course but a comparable weight material for reference would be a flat bedsheet, folded over once. Heavy, I tellya.
Also the white is a tad gray-ish, not a bright white, so one star off for the misrepresentation of the true color.
