著者について

Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children’s books, which included the creation of the one and only ‘The Cat in the Hat’, published in 1957.

本書はネイティブでも舌をかんでしまいそうなフレーズが多く、最近どっぷり日本語環境（しかも方言が混じっているような）にいる海外在住１９年の私でも楽しめました。　ただ、日本語教育環境下に置かれてしまった私の３歳（当時）の娘にはちょっと難しかったようです。

留学前の子女やご家庭でバイリンガル環境を維持したい方々にはお勧めです。

リビングでずーっと流しっぱなしのときもあります。
子どもたちが面白くてまねしたりもします。年少の息子はfox, box, knox, sox　など簡単な部分はcdを真似して読んでいたりします。

韻を踏んでいるのでまだ発語しないような赤ちゃんでも聞いていて面白いようで、フレーズによってはケラケラと笑います。

難を挙げるとすれば絵ですかね・・・。
これキツネ？？みたいな・・・。
言われないと何の動物だかわからないようなデフォルメ？された絵です。

子どもへの読み聞かせ用に、他のDr.seussの本と一緒に買いました。同じ韻を踏んだライミングワードが随所に出てくるので、英語を知らないうちの子どもも面白く感じるようです。小学2年で読みたい本もはっきりしている子どもですが、これは聞かせると笑いました。出てくるのは基本的な単語ばかりなので、初めは私が子どもに読み聞かせ、だいたいストーリーを把握したら、CDをかけて子どもと聞いています。

携帯の同アプリだと夜寝る前に遊び始めるので本を買いました。
私は英語が流暢でない（ほぼ話せない）のでCD付きで良かったです。
聞いて練習しないとリズム良く読み聞かせが出来なかったと思います。

Dr.Seussのシリーズを少しずつ集めています。英語を教えるときに(チビッ子には特に)生徒たちから気に入ってもらえます。
私自身も、似た音の発音の練習に役立てながら、ストーリーを楽しんでいます。
内容も、クスッと笑えてDr.seussの作品の中でもとてもお気に入りです。つっかからずに全部発音できるまでは、当分、毎日読みそうです。

I thought Lord of the Rings was a tough read. Until I read Fox in Socks to my daughter. It sent her happily to sleep but I'm the one who will be having nightmares.
Tongue twisters that'll make you stumble and chuckle as you try to read this insane book aloud.
Brilliant.
I'll be buying another copy for my friend to share the pain.

Bought this for my 6yr old as he had been reading Dr Seuss book's at school and wanted me to buy some for home reading. This book is brilliant the tongue twists are insane and it makes him laugh everytime I read it and mess up but I am getting better. He has now attempted to read it himself and did exceptionally well

As has already been said in several other reviews, this is a book of tongue twisters that make it a fun, but challenging read. It's not a book that would help our son (who is four) learn to read, as there are other Dr. Seuss books which are much better for that. Some children's books are boring to read out aloud and they're more likely to put me to sleep at bedtime than our son. This is certainly not the case with Fox in Socks!

Some Dr. Seuss books aren't that long, but Fox in Socks is about the right length for reading to a pre-schooler in my opinion, as it keeps their attention with the wonderful drawings and rhymes. The only real negative is that sometimes these books feel a bit dated, but as they are still as popular as ever I don't think that matters and certainly not to children.

This is basically a wonderful, classic, dotty load of tongue twisters from the masterly Dr Suess. I gave it four stars rather than five because i slightly suspect that this is more fun for me to read to the kids than it is for them to listen to, so it's not one they beg me to read to them, more like one I insist on choosing instead of some of the more lame kid's books that are foisted upon me at story time. Maybe once they get to the stage of reading it for themselves they will enjoy it as much as i do.
